Yes - thousands of users around. For all their limitations, these lathes were the mainstay of British Model Engineering for several generations.

Myford still supply most, if not all the spares you will need, although there are some gaps such as spindle bearings for ML7. They can however supply a new spindle with bronze bearings for this model if you need need it. They will also regrind and rebuild a lathe for you if you wish.

There are probably more tools and accesories designed to fit Myford 7 series lathes than any other, although you will need to make many of these yourself. If your lathe is in reasonable condition and especially if it is is a Super 7 it is well worth hanging on to and bringing back into use. If you want to buy a new 7 inch swing lathe, the cost of a new Myford might be difficult to accept. GT2 Sorry about the length of this but you can date your lathe from the serial number - if memory serves on the tailstock end of the bed on the rear vertical face. Info cribbed from Lathes.co.uk Your lathe is just like the one my dad bought in 1951 and eventually gave me when he bought the super 7B.

I'd be interested to see what sort of date yours is. As I had both a Super Adept and a Enox, I don't know which pair of miniature lathe chucks I have. I certainly have the Enox top slide. However they are both pretty similar machines. What happened in pre-WW2 times was that 'manufacturers' bought in bits from here and there and badged them in their name. Whether the Super Adept and the Cadet came into being this way, I know not but there was a longish article in Model Engineer by Tom D.Walshaw writing as 'Tubal Cain' Again, a J.Latta wrote up improvements for his Adept.

There's a lot of confusion in small lathes as 'the Little Gem' appeared by two manufacturers and one changed his to 'Lane' Again, the Zyto was not made by Samuel Tyzack but probably by Myford. It's top slide( in my drawer) is definitely Myford and so were the gears. Sorry, but it is confusing.
